Nearly two million passengers used Malaga airport during the month of May, official figures reveal.
The month of May saw a 6.1% jump in the number of flights when compared to the same period last year and a year-on-year passenger increase of 4.2%. The two million passengers arrived or departed on almost 14,000 flights.
Passenger numbers using domestic flights were up 7.7% to more than 250,000, whilst users of routes to other countries were up 3.7%.
More than 600,000 passengers travelled between the Costa del Sol and airports in the United Kingdom. 125,000 passengers travelled between Malaga and France, with more than 155,000 travelling to or from German airports.
These latest official figures take the running total for the year up to 7.1 million over the first 5 months. More than 19 million passengers travelled through Malaga airport in 2018, up 2.1% on the year before.
