Malaga Airport passenger numbers on the rise


Passenger numbers at Malaga Airport rose by 7.3% in the first four months of this year, compared to the same period of 2018.


Aena, the airport operator, reported that 5.2 million passengers used the airport and that there were 29,514 international flights in the first four months of the year, an increase of 5.6 per cent on a year ago.


Visitor numbers from Britain were up by 3.4 per cent, with 548,502 UK passengers arriving or departing. Germany had 156,259 passengers, up 7.5 per cent, and France 119,715, an increase of almost 20 per cent on the first four months of last year.


Domestic flight numbers also rose, with 8,897 departures and landings to or from Spanish airports. This represents an increase of 8.5 per cent and 885,772 domestic passengers.


The busiest day of the initial four months of 2019 was Saturday 13 April, with 72,399 passengers filing through the Costa del Sol's airport.
