Local Election Results
The Partido Popular (PP) gained an overall majority in Marbella, as well as Estepona and Fuengirola, after being the most-voted party in Malaga City. As a result, Angeles Muñoz can govern alone to bring some much-needed continuity to the town.
Muñoz, whom had previously urged foreign residents of Marbella to vote in the local elections, led the PP to victory by championing transport, beaches and healthcare as the main priorities for her party. It is also hoped she can continue to find a solution to the planning issues and delays that have plagued the municipality over the last decade.
After losing the majority in 2015 and returning to office after the coalition fell away, this year's election campaign left nothing to chance and resulted in a majority of 14.
